Hand
Numbering Stamps
Hand numbering stamps have been indispensable tools and
mainstay fixtures in modern-day offices since their
invention during the early 1800's. Nowadays, there are
automatic and more advanced versions. For the simple daily
sorting out of important files and documents however,
nothing beats the efficiency and easiness that hand
numbering stamps offer.
Manual or hand numbering stamps usually hold two to ten
bands. They are generally classified into two basic
categories: the regular and the self-inking kind. Regular
stamps have numbering bands that are made of rubber or
regular die-plated metal which could be replaced by hand.
They use the standard stamp or paper pad ink, as well as
other specialized inks for stamping on metal, plastic, or
glass. The self-inking type of hand numbering stamp, on the
other hand, have an internal ink supply. Unlike the regular
ones, they can only use standard stamp or paper pad ink.
Both kinds of hand numbering stamps are usually made from
die-cast metal or metal-reinforced plastics.
Hand numbering stamps can be custom-made according to set
specifications. A major consideration would be the type of
ink print or indentation style that the stamp bands would
leave on paper. There are two kinds of number and letter
styles that are usually available: the PN or bold print and
the XCPN style. A customer can order both styles of bands
along with his hand numbering stamp so that he could
manually change his stamps from one print type to another
depending on his needs.
With the upgrades available for hand numbering stamps, they
surely will remain a popular and permanent part of the
office desk.
